How does it make you feel when you see people dressed immodestly down the hallway? How do you feel when you know that because of them, the guys around you are having a difficult time concentrating? The truth is, is that people cannot concentrate when there is a distraction around them. ( For instance, when you can see somebody's butt fall out of their skirt that is way too short for even my barbie dolls). How can you ignore it? It's disgusting!!! So what do you do? You point it out to all of your friends standing around, and all of you point out that it is gross and that you really wished she didn't wear that skirt, or even buy it.
Well if you wish it wasn't so, why don't you make it not so?
Here are the rules for the schools dress code: (Taken from Dixie High Schools mini-handbook):
Dress should be neat and appropriate for the school setting. Student dress should not be distracting or revealing (NO BUTT CHEEKS!!!). The Washington County School District has set dress codes and guidelines to include the following items:
The attire and grooming of all students should be neat, clean and safe.
Facial, body piercing, or gauging is not permitted at school (earrings are allowed).
Students have the responsibility to avoid apparel that is so extreme that it interrupts the school order or adversely affects the educational process. (See, i told you it wasn't allowed!!)
Printed apparel is accepted only if it is in good taste.(Don't wear ugly clothes you guys ;) ) Any apparel displaying profanity suggestive slogans, or that promotes substances illegal for consumption by a minor are not allowed.
And here is the biggy here...
Clothing that is mutilated or immodest is not appropriate school wear....Bare shoulders are not permissible. Short and skirt lengths should be modest and not revealing. They should be no shorter than four inches above the top of the kneecap in a standing position. (if you follow this, you won't have the embarrasing problem of you butt falling out)
SO WHAT DO YOU DO WHEN SOMEONE IS BREAKING THESE AMAZING RULES OUR TEACHERS AND PARENTS PUT INTO PLACE FOR OUR SAFETY???
the answer is easy. We dress code them. :)
If you are saying, "Well that isn't fair, they have the choice to wear the clothes that they choose." The truth is that it is fair. There are rules in the handbook for everyone to see that say what is expected of us. It tells us why we are modest at school (distractions), and it is also for our own safety!
If you are saying, "Well, it is their right to go against the rules if they want to." The truth is that if you break the rules, there is a consequence.
Think about it, if you don't clean your room when your mom tells you to, your going to be punished for not following the rules. If you don't do your homework, then you are going to get an F. You have consequences. And so immodest people at school should be told that what they are doing is not right. So their consequence is being dress coded and wearing an ugly gym t-shirt for the rest of the day. And then maybe they will learn.
SO COWBOY UP AND GO INTO THE OFFICE AND WRITE THEIR NAME DOWN FOR BEING DRESS CODED. Even if they don't dress code them, you will have done what is right.
And remember, follow the code yourself :) Spread love and cheer everyone!
well said Madde!!!
